The vestibule is a lean-to tarp shelter with bug mesh walls, that uses only ground anchors to stand. I made the vestibule from three pieces of damaged equipment. My first tent, a travel bug net and a silicone tarp riddled with scorch holes. In essence I stripped the old equipment of its primary function and form, but maintained a semblance of the earlier designed aesthetic and the value that I had seen in it. This piece was an exploration into the sustainability of re-purposing and was tested on a 20 day canoe trip in the Northern Yukon. It was so successful as a secondary space that it has become the ‘front porch’ for future trips.
