Project Client: Emily Carr - Masters of Design
Exploration: Connection to Nature Probe - Human Centred
Testing Location: Spanish Banks, BC
Material: Re-purposed plywood, plastic and print
The experiential survey intended to explore what inhibits connection to nature in the urban setting and how the general public find opportunities to engage with nature in spaces outside and within park-like locations such as Spanish Banks. This survey became more beneficial for the interactions it produced then the actually survey responses. The survey collected explicit data on socially driven fears; garbage, needles, strangers in urban green spaces. Where conversations highlighted a lack of understanding of ecology present in the urban setting. These findings would directly effect my choice in outcome for my Masters of Design thesis.
